DEV NOTES
I approached this jam knowing the original concept was probably too ambitious for a 72-hour project, so a lot of the development process became figuring out what the game actually needed to be. My initial plan involved a full in-game week, special visitors, more dynamic stat checks, and a much larger pool of reactive events so I trimmed a lot.
I wanted to make the game much more interactive and visual than my last attempt, and I think I succeeded. I experimented more with UI, pop-ups, audio, reactive headlines and widgets. I ended up a little sick of the colour palette I chose, but it was too late to change. Sorry for all the beige. Pretty pleased with the writing and some of the puns I snuck in.
Future directions/ideas:
- Expand the game into a full in-universe week of events
- Add special stat check events (in my original scope)
- Create or source additional artwork and event illustrations
- Add more ambient sounds and dynamic visuals based on choices
